These pieces are made using different pieces of copper tubing and wire to create multiple designs, with most designs inspired by the Petroglyphs found in the southwestern United States.
The Atomic WiFi Series are sculptures that are inspired by the myriad of icons. Where would we be without our connections? How would we send and receive information without the connections that make up our lives with or without wifi? These sculptures are created using copper and spun glass from the great state of West Virginia.

From the Atomic WiFi Series, these sculptures are made from copper and glass. This is the first sculpture in that series and the one that started it all. Given that the world is full of icons, we figured that we would just build our own and have a lot of fun creating them.

This is the second sculpture in the Atomic WiFi series and is made from copper and handblown glass. These sculptures are a play on the myriad of icons that flood our world. We just love making these funky playful sculptures.

This is the third sculpture in the Atomic WiFi series of sculptures that we create from copper and glass. This sculpture has an additional piece of glass that is reminiscent of the moon. See that rainbow on the surface of the copper? That is our own signature rainbow and is specific to Mountain Artworks Studio.

This is Atomic WiFi 4 and this sculpture incorporates our signature copper style as well as a large vintage uranium glass bowl. Sometimes we come across a piece of vintage glass that is screaming to become a sculpture.

Atomic WiFi 5 is a play on the icon world which is so fascinating. This one in particular is an Atomic WiFi with a newly developed Baby WiFi yet to bloom.

This sculpture is the 6th in the Atomic WiFi Series and has been given a bit of MidMod to make it just a bit different. Please note the signature welding style that we have incorporated into the surface of the copper. This sculpture is made from copper and Blenko glass, made right here in WV.

This series of sculptures is made from steel and many different types of woven wire. These sculptures are from my dream world that I write down and sketch each morning as I awake. We have developed machines that help us weave this wire and man are we glad we did. That is a lot of wire.
Beacon 3 is a wire woven tower made from many different types of wire wrapped around a super structure of steel. These sculptures come to me in my dreams which I write down each morning then create in the studio. What a fun process.
This is Beacon 6, 6th in the series of dream sculptures that I sketch just as I awake. Then it's off to the shop to create what I saw within my dream. This sculpture is at my studio in Athens WV. It is made of various types of wire spun around a welded steel frame.
This is how sculptures sometimes start. A friend of mine called up and wanted a sketch of a gigantic sculpture made with farm equipiment on a piece of land under developement. We made the sketch and this initial sketch was the start to something ginormous.
This is the sculpture being erected via crane at the Carolina Logistics Park in Pineville, North Carolina.

This Fiddlehead sculpture is made from copper and handblown glass with a steel base for weight and attachment to its mounting surface. We are always amazed at mother nature's admirable engineering, and in this case we pay tribute to fiddlehead ferns. This sculpture is 9 feet tall and the copper holding the glass has been hammered for strength.
This copper and glass sculpture is made with a lage vintage piece of signal glass. The petals are made from copper and is held up with a steel stake for tuning and to enhance it's ability to dance in the wind.
This is a double fiddlehead sculpture made from copper and glass made right here in West Virginia. We love the emegence of the fiddlehead ferns from the soil and try to capture the playfulness these plant offer us. This sculpture is on display at Tamarack Outdoor Gallery in Beckley, WV.
This is an example of how we attach the glass to the copper in a cradle fashion. There is no penetration of the glass. We create a cradle in which the glass sits which allows it to free float.
This fiddlehead sculpture is 7 feet tall and incorporates a spun piece of glass made in the studio of John DesMulles in Beckley West Virginia. The stem of this sculpture is made from hammered copper tubing for strength and its ability to dance in the wind. Attachment base is made of steel for weight as well as attachment to the surface.
Sheila's Flower is made from steel, copper, and a big gigantic vintage piece of Fostoria Glass. This piece of glass was chosen to create this big flower for my friend and neighbor because it is thick and can survive a hail storm. There are no penetrations to the glass. It is held by wrapping copper around the glass in suspention.
This weather vane sits atop a turret attached to a historic home in Athens WV. This was a commisson work in copper that replaced the original weathervane.
This sculpture was created for a friend and patron on a commission basis. It is constructed of copper and glass from West Virginia glass artist John DesMuelles. This sculpture also incorporates LED backlighting that changes color.
Concord University has been a great patron over the years and this bronze sculpture is one of those commissions. It is of a young mountain lion cub seeking the knowledge of the elder which chooses to teach.
This commission sculpture was designed by a young gentleman with a paracosm. He has created the world of Avaras and it's sun known as the Beacon of Hope. Developed from his drawings and sketches, we created this sculpture with him and created a fountain.
The Bloom is a commissioned sculpture from the Beacon Partners in Charlotte NC. Working with Pete Kidwell on the idea as well as the completed desisn we came up with this very special sculpture. The theme for the sculpture was the poem The Rose that bloomed from the concrete by Tupac Shakur. The poem is located around the base of the sculpture. Made from painted stainless steel and incorporates solar power for lighting.
These sey of cattails are of monumental size. At 11 feet tall or any size that you may need, they stand out no matter where you put them. These cattails are macde of steel and copper which has an added patina for the colors. we have made thses from 4 feet high up to 15 feet tall.
This series of shaman are created in various metals and incorporate glass components. We have travelled extensively throughout the southwest and have always found these images inspiring. The shaman to me is the knowledge that we seek throughout life. and occasionally getting to absorb it.
This is an example of the Shaman Series that we create. They can be made from any type of metal and any size needed. They can incorporate glass, found objects, woods, or just about anything you may wish. They represent the search for higher knowledge and our love of the petroglyphs of the southwestern US as well as globally.

This is the sketch for a sculpture that is in the works for the community of Eastpointe Michigan. This is how it starts for us and the patron. We draw until the design is correct and move forward to its creation. This an array of hands which make a sunburst and represents the noble efforts of working together.
We crete a tshirt design each year that we release for sale. This design is Love boring it's way through Hate.
This pen and ink design was created for a sculptural sign at a city skate park. This is an example of how we give the details of our vision for a sculpture and it's components. Notes are made of the details and it is conveyed to the decision makers to approve.

Sun design in copper. This sculpture has our signature rainbow copper finish. These Suns come in many sizes and different designs.
Bluegrass instruments in copper. These designs are typically 28" in length yet can be made up to any size.
WV Sunrise is made of welded copper as well as polished copper. It incorporates the welding tecnique that we use as well as the rainbow effect that is our signature color.
This is our friendly Owl made of copper for display on a wall.
One of our favorite designs to make in the shop. This design incorporates a patina of a portion of the sculpture.
This turtle sculpture has a welded copper surface. It is made to resemble the copper surface of the petroglyphs of the southwest.

This is the only known Shaman Petroglyph Carving in West Virginia. We created this sculpture in copper. Some portions have a patina and the other has our singnature rainbow effect that we give to our finished copper.
